Demo's Cancelled

Dili has breathed a sigh of relief: the demonstrations scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled. Last week the Prime Minister, Nobel Peace Prize winner Jose Ramos-Horta, said that he would resign if protests occurred, and his threat seems to have worked. The leader of the demonstrations has opted for a "dialogue." While this does not mean that we are out of the woods, it certainly makes me feel better.
